NUTRITION
Providing client education and staff training that enable Contra Costa families to make food choices to promote good health and wise use of resources is the focus of the Nutrition Program. Through federally-funded Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program (FSNEP), Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), low income families and individuals can improve their eating habits, food purchase and preparation skills. The Nutrition Advisor researches local problems such as anemia prevention in young children, food insecurity and childhood obesity with partners on the University of California campuses and local agency staff.
